I would like to respond to an article published in the July 11 edition of the Burnham Standard.
As a member of, and on behalf of the staff at the Dengie 100 Sports Centre in Burnham-on-Crouch, I am very disappointed with the detrimental comments made by Nick Skeens about the centre.
His remarks describing the centre as "worn out" and "falling apart" are extreme to say the least and somewhat fabricated.
Mr Skeens' comments have angered many happy members and staff members alike, some of whom have been present at the Dengie 100 for 20 years.
I do believe regular investment is required in the local facilities as part of an ongoing regeneration programme, but feel Mr Skeens should have consulted the staff and members before submitting his rather insulting editorial.
The centre is a community orientated and successful facility with all the staff working very hard to maintain the excellent standards of service.
