In the early fifties, during carnival week, there was a life-size mechanical elephant that gave rides to children in the Maldon area. It was operated by a four-cylinder Ford engine.
I remember it well.
In conversation with friends in Australia, I mentioned the elephant.
To my surprise, nobody believed me.
This being the case, I am asking anyone in the Maldon area who took photos of it to contact me. If they have a picture or copy of the elephant, I am willing to pay for any expenses that may occur.
