A BRIDE was transported to her wedding by Burnham’s very own ferry service.

Daniella Parry, of Crouch Road, Burnham, married her now husband Luke at the Burnham Sailing Club on Saturday.

Before the ceremoney, her father Roger Smith walked her from his home in Providence, through the High Street and along the quayside to catch the Burnham Ferry before giving her away.

The ferry along the River Crouch was a last minute transport decision for Daniella, as Roger had previously hoped to drive her their in his vintage car, but could not get it restored in time.

Roger said: “It was a very memorable and special day where the Burnham community really were wonderful.

“On the walk from my house we stopped for a drink before heading down to the jetty where the ferry runs from.

“There were 16 people waiting in front of us, but they let us on before them which was lovely.

“We had a few photos on the ferry before we reached the club.

There were around 115 guests, but because the ferry decision was quite late in the planning only about five knew we’d be arriving on the river.

“There were plenty of surprised faces.”

“A big thanks to the ferry crew, the club and Essex Hog Roasts for the food on the day plus many others who helped out, Daniella and Luke had the greatest day possible.”
