Members of the SC Club are invited to the home of Viv and John Scott, Meadow Cottage in Rectory Road, on the afternoon of Tuesday July 17, at 3pm, for a Pimms Summer Party.

Although the party will take place outside, there is plenty of covered seating, and the swimming pool and hot tub will be available for anyone who fancies a dip.

Come along for a Pimms, a chat and a cup of tea. There will be a small charge of £1 for club funds.

If you would like a lift down to Meadow Cottage, telephone John on 01621 817796 to make arrangements.

VILLAGE FETE

This year's fete will be held on the playing field, Top Road, from 1.30pm on Sunday, July 15.

Volunteers are required to man the stalls, so if you can help, please turn up at 1pm on the day.

There will be various stalls, a barbecue, a children's activity corner, a coconut shy, tombolas, a white elephant stall and crockery smashing, to name but a few of the attractions.

MONASTERY OPEN DAY

The Monastery, in Rectory Road, will open its doors to the public on Saturday, July 21, between 2pm and 5pm.

You are invited to look around the wonderful church and its gardens.

AUCTION

Chris and Nigel's next auction will be held at Longfields, Plains Road, Great Totham, on Sunday, July 29, starting promptly at 10am.

If you have any lots for the auction or any other enquiries, telephone them on 01621 892717.

Please note that no lots can be taken in on the day.

GARDEN WASTE

Dispose of all your garden waste every Saturday, either from Knights Close between 9.45am and 9.55am, or from the village hall car park between 10am and 10.15am.

This service is strictly for garden rubbish only - please do not leave waste of any kind at either of these sites at any time.

BINGO

Come along to the village hall every Wednesday evening and enjoy a game of bingo.

There are always plenty of good cash prizes available, a flyer game is played and also a game where one lucky person can win a free bottle of wine. At half-time, refreshments are available and a raffle held.

Bingo starts promptly at 8pm.

Books cost £2 each, and you can have as many books as you wish.

The flyer game is £1 extra.

All funds raised from these very popular bingo sessions go towards the maintenance and improvement of the village hall.

We look forward to seeing you.

and new faces are always very welcome.

AID 2 AFRICA

Please keep your donations of adult and children's clothing and shoes, bedding and soft toys coming in, as they are always so urgently needed - and now we also require your unwanted items of cutlery, crockery, pots, pans and kitchen utensils, for an orphanage soon to be opened in Lesotho.

You can either leave your items at 13 Barnhall Road at any time, or take them along to the village hall on a Wednesday evening between 7pm and 8pm.

There are very many poor villages in Lesotho, the country in Africa which the organisers of Aid 2 Africa support, and the winters there are surprisingly very cold, so they need everything you can spare.

This is an ongoing concern and items are always wanted. About four or five times a year, large containers are packed by volunteers and dispatched to Africa with all your donations.
