MALDON Rotary Club will be holding its annual plant sale on Saturday May 14.

The plant sale has been taking place annually on Maldon High Street for nearly 30 years, selling a wide selection of flowering plants and vegetables.

It started off as Rotary Club members growing their own plants and selling on the surplus they produced.

It developed into a bigger charity event as more plants were grown, with all funds being split between the Rotary Club and various local charities which are decided on a yearly basis.

James Howard, who is on the finance and fundraising committee in the club, said: “The sale has become more impressive with each year, we average at around £500 raised for local charities, and last year we reached £700.

“We distribute the funds raised each year in accordance with which charities need them most. It’s always been a success and I’m pleased it is still going today.”

The plant sale will take place on Saturday May 14 from 8am – 2pm outside of All Saints Church on Maldon High Street.
