A social group which aims to bring together retired and semi-retired people to make friends and keep their minds occupied held the first general meeting of the year.
The University of the Third Age group in Burnham has 34 interest groups, with most meeting in members’ homes or sports venues.
Interest groups include table tennis, understanding music and visiting Essex gardens.
More than 70 members attended the first general meeting, with speaker Bernard Lockett giving an overview and assessment of the “Life and Works of Gilbert and Sullivan”, their backgrounds and place in the theatrical and cultural heritage.
The next general meeting will take place at Burnham Village Hall on March 4 at 2.30pm with speaker Robert Dresner speaking on the Trojan wars.
