A GRIEVING mother has quizzed a health trust in her bid for answers after her son killed himself at a mental health unit.
Matthew Leahy, 20, of Heybridge, died after hanging himself at the Linden Centre, in Chelmsford, in November 2012.
His mother, Melanie Leahy, has been calling for an independent investigation after an inquest held in January found a host of failings, including issues around hinges on bedroom doors.
Ms Leahy has now handed board directors of the North Essex Partnership Foundation Trust a letter outlining her questions and concerns surrounding Matthew’s death.
A trust spokesman said: “Ms Leahy's letter is being considered and we will respond to her shortly.”
