Maldon's new mayor is keen to see greater cohesion between residents, businesses and councils.
Former policeman Mark Heard was last night chosen by his fellow town councillors at Maldon Town Hall to be the new mayor for the next municipal year.
Tony Shrimpton was chosen to be the new deputy mayor.
Mr Heard, 57, said: “It is an honour and privilege to become part of the town’s history in the long running continuation of the role."
