Nine extra police officers have been drafted into Maldon to deal with a recent surge in crime.
The town's district commander, Alan Cook, described the move as 'really positive'.
More police officers will be patrolling Maldon district after a 12.3 per cent rise in crime.
Chief Inspector Alan Cook said: "It's a really positive move and very welcome for the forthcoming year."
