A crop firm hopes to install a wind turbine which could power more than 100 homes.

Dengie Crops, in Hall Road, Asheldham, has submitted plans for a Wind Technik Nord 250KW turbine with an overall tip height of 45 metres.

The farmers co-operative provides a service to farmers, from crop drying through to grain marketing, and is also a producer of Alfalfa, which is used in the production of animal feeds.

According to its design and access statement, produced by HallMark, it is noted: “The business is continuingly trying to be competitive within the market whilst being environmental friendly.

“This is particularly prevalent as consumers are becoming increasingly more aware of sustainable farming methods and the carbon footprint of the produce they buy."
