A drain on Maldon High Street has broken repeatedly, despite £1million being put towards high street improvements by the county council.
The drain, towards the bottom of the High Street, even broke twice in one day, when workmen repaired it and a downpour followed.
Gina Shean, 54, of High Street, Maldon said: “Workmen put it right and then when it rained again it lifted back up.
“Someone will trip on it before long and it could be an old person.
“It’s been like that for months, people come and fix it but when it rains, it all comes back up again.
“I have seen workmen trying to sort it out but all they do is put more tarmac down but when it rains, it’s like a river running down the road.
“My room looks onto the High Street and I have to walk past this eyesore every time I go up town.”
