Two budding film-makers are using their skills to promote a fund-raising festival for their friend who suffered a brain injury.
Friends Sam Chaplin, of Lodge Road, Maldon, and Rob Jenner, of The Street, Latchingdon, are hoping that their films will encourage more people to go to SamStock, a music, comedy and arts festival, organised to raise money for specialist equipment for Sam Richards, who fell from a rope cage at Oak Tree Meadow play area, in Heybridge, in September 2012.
He is now undergoing rehabilitation at a Clacton respite centre and attends Shorefields School, also in the town.
Sam and Rob, who are both Plume College students, have uploaded two videos to Youtube so far and hope to film the festival.
Sam said: “One of our missions is to get as many people to come as possible and if for whatever reason they can’t attend, we ask for them to promote the festival as much as they can.
“As we are both really close friends of his, this project really means a lot to us."
The festival, which will be held at the Museum of Power in Langford, will include acts such as headline act Toploader, who will be joined by Next of Kin, Scarlett’s Roses, Vince Freeman, Shouting Signals and Soley Mourning, as well as local musicians.
Money will go to the Sam Richards Recovery Fun and local charities in association with The Lions Club.
