A teenager who has longed to go in the army for as long as he can remember hopes to sue the Military of Defence because they will not accept diabetics.
Ormiston Rivers Academy pupil Tom Newman-Clark, 13, has Type 1 diabetes and injects himself with insulin five times a day but insists that has never held him back, and never will.
Tom, who lives in New Moor Crescent, Southminster, has attended an army cadet unit each week for almost two years but is unable to do his dream job in the future because his medical condition means he is a risk.
Although he knows it could be dangerous for him to fight on the front line, Tom feels he should be allowed to still be on officer on the home front.
