Crooks removed an entire door and door frame to steal from a charity shop.

Staff at Farleigh Hospice charity shop in Maldon’s High Street arrived at work on Monday morning at about 8.30am to discover the back door was missing.

Inside the store, they discovered that the thieves had searched behind the till and stole DVDs worth £20.

Cheryl Bunkle, marketing manager for Farleigh Hospice, said: “Staff arrived to find that the whole door and frame were removed by a crow bar.

“It would seem that they hadn’t taken anything except DVDs."
