A pair of rare birds have begun nesting on a Bradwell power station, holding up a stage of the decommissioning work.

Two peregrine falcons, which are a protected species, were spotted this month hunting across the Dengie but have since begun nesting on one of the reactors.

The arrival of the birds’ nest means Magnox, who are in charge of decommissioning the plant, have to take special care not to disturb them.

They have now had to stop work on the second reactor, which could last for months.
