A bygone age of working on the land is captured in these photographs sent in by Gordon Belsham, from Burnham.
They were taken at Newmans Farm in 1950 and feature: Bob Cole cutting peas with the Hulme pea cutter, Bill Chapman riding the Massey-Harris self-binder cutting sugar beet and Alex Hutcheson driving the Fordson and two workers by a piece of farm machinery.
If you have an old photograph you would like to see featured in Standard Memories, write to Maldon and Burnham Standard, 43-44 North Hill, Colchester, CO1 1TZ, or e-mail mbsdistrict@nqe.com
