BIRDS Of A Feather star Lesley Joseph is all set to star in a raunchy comedy musical in Chelmsford next month.

The 68-year-old actress who plays Dorien Green in the popular Essex-based sitcom will be at the Civic Theatre, in Fairfield Road, from May 21 to 23 when Hot Flush comes to the city.

The show revolves around four menopausal women who meet up at a local bar to talk about the men in their life.

A feature of the play sees actor Matt Slack play 15 different men representing all the blokes in the lifes of the main characters.

Joseph has toured with the production in the past and said it is a thrill to be playing her part of Myra again, adding the audience will be in for a treat too.

“I’ve done it twice before and I just couldn’t resist doing it again,” she said.

“It has gone down so well with audiences. It’s the only show I’ve ever done where on the first night we overran by 15 minutes because there were so many laughs.

“Its sense of humour is very near the knuckle and that really appeals. One of the characters has a moment with a Rampant Rabbit and you don’t get much more near the knuckle than that.”

Teaming up with Joseph to play the other women are Lori Haley Fox, Anne Smith and Ruth Keeling.

Tickets for show which starts at 7.45pm each night cost £21.50 for adults and £19.50 for concessions.
