I must add my comments regarding the yellow line epidemic in last week's Standard.
I know I speak for all the businesses in the Heybridge Square area.
In 28 years of trading we have never had any parking problems, so these lines are an unnecessary waste of public money - and an eyesore on our picturesque town.
Recently, a council traffic warden has been warning customers that they will be prosecuted for parking on the "off-road" areas on both sides of the roundabout.
These areas are very wide and provide areas for customers and delivery vans to park temporarily without inconveniencing motorists or pedestrians, including disabled vehicles.
I queried this council official as to where we can park as they had put double yellow lines everywhere and we are told we can't park on the adjacent areas. Her reply was: "I don't know!"
It appears two words are not in the modern English authoritiy's dictionary - commonsense!
