Seven in custody over robbery

SEVEN people, including two teenage girls, are in police custody following an armed robbery in Burnham.

A cashbox was stolen from a security van outside Natwest in Burnham High Street at around 11.50am yesterday.

A police raid on a property in Alexandra Road in the town followed that afternoon, and arrests were made.

Police this morning confirmed that the suspects are currently being questioned at two police stations in Essex.

They are a 22-year-old man of unknown address, a 20-year-old man from Bradwell, a 21-year-old man from Dagenham and four people from Burnham including a 23-year-old man, a 14-year-old girl, a 16-year-old girl and a 39-year-old woman.
