Tiptree lad to face The Rocket in championship final

ALI Carter has won a place in his first World Championship final.

Carter, from Tiptree, beat Joe Perry 17-15 after a nailbiting semi-final.

He will now face odds-on favourite Ronnie O'Sullivan in tomorrow's match at the Crucible Theatre in Sheffield.

The 28-year-old will play O'Sullivan for the £250,000 first prize as he bids to become the 2008 888.com World Championship winner.

However, he may have to pull out all the stops as he has lost to O'Sullivan at all their previous encounters.

The final, which will see the winner take the best of 35 frames, starts tomorrow, Sunday, and will conclude on Monday.
