Wilson wants an improved performance from Ramblers
4:56pm Thursday 4th October 2012 in Local Sport
BURNHAM Ramblers boss Keith Wilson is demanding an improved performance when his side host Haringey and Waltham Development.
Goals from Brad Nobbs and Ross Wall earned the Leslie Field team a 2-0 victory at Barking last weekend, in the Essex Senior League.
But despite being ecstatic with the result, Wilson was less than impressed with his side’s “shocking” display – and is hoping for better on Saturday.
“It was a great result because Barking are an organised, well-drilled side,” he told the Standard.
“Not many teams will go there and win this season, so it’s a great sign that we played badly and got three points.
“But I have to be honest and say our performance was shocking.
“We were very poor and it was the worst we’ve played for a long time.
“We didn’t have any energy or cohesion, which surprised and disappointed me.
“It felt like an end-of-season game.
“We’ve set a high standard but some of the players didn’t look interested.
“The work-rate wasn’t there and, although we improved in the second half, it was like we were having to coax the players through the game.
“That’s not normally something we have to do.
“Maybe it was one of those days, but we can’t have too many more like it.”
Haringey and Waltham Development are the visitors to Leslie Field on Saturday (kick-off 3pm).
Meanwhile, Ramblers are into the third round of the Essex Senior Cup, having brushed aside Thurlow Nunn League side Wivenhoe Town 4-1 last Tuesday.
They now travel to Southend United in the next round.
