Burnham Ramblers praises his side for an emphatic win

BURNHAM Ramblers boss Keith Wilson praised his side for an “emphatic, convincing and professional” performance after they thumped London APSA 5-0.

Saturday’s crushing victory – which could have been much bigger, given the one-sided nature of the contest – has sent them soaring back to the top of the Essex Senior League table.

And with this weekend off to rest niggling injuries and recharge batteries, Wilson says there is plenty to smile about at Leslie Field.

“I asked for a professional performance and that’s exactly what I got,” he said.

“With all due respect, it’s always difficult playing teams like London APSA.

“They turned up just to keep the score down and tried their hardest to slow the game down.

“But we like playing with tempo, so had to inject that ourselves. Overall, we were emphatic and convincing and could have scored a lot more.

“I don’t think London APSA could have complained if we’d won 12-0.

“We hit the woodwork three times, missed a penalty and their goalkeeper pulled off seven or eight outstanding saves.”

Brad Hunter and Ross Wall both scored twice, with the other goal coming from Ricky Evans.

Ramblers’ victory has taken them back to the top of the table, on goal difference from London Bari.

They have no game this weekend and next play on Tuesday, away to Clapton in the Gordon Brasted Memorial Trophy.
