Heybridge Swifts trounce Redbridge

HEYBRIDGE Swifts put Redbridge to the sword.

Heybridge inflicted an 8-0 Ryman league division one north defeat on their hosts on Tuesday night.

Jon Edwards opened the scoring with a wonderful half-volley from just outside the box.

Three minutes later Heybridge had doubled their lead.

Terence Amas whipped in a corner to the front post onto the head of Michael Cheek, who finished with a firm header.

On 30 minutes, Heybridge grabbed their third goal.

Luke Callander latched onto a through ball and lobbed the keeper with a delicate finish.

And it was 4-0 just after half-time, Cheek was brought down by the Redbridge keeper and the referee pointed to the penalty spot.

Callander stepped up and made no mistake with his spot kick..

On 65 minutes, Ben Newson fired home to make it 5-0.

Heybridge could even afford to have a Callander strike ruled out for off-side.

But the visitors did grab a sixth goal when, with 13 minutes left, Newson found the back of the net.

Callander then headed in for his his hat-trick in the 84th minute before adding another five minutes later.
