Cricket Week is drawing to a close
4:41pm Thursday 26th July 2012 in Local Sport By Matt Plummer
MALDON Cricket Club’s cricket week draws to a close tomorrow.
Two games of seniors cricket will be played.
At both Drapers Farm and Promenade Park, Maldon’s seniors will take on teams made up from the Marshall Hatchick Two Counties Championship over-50s and over-60s representative sides.
The John Ellis Trophy is up for the winners and play gets under way at 11.30am.
The annual event got under way on Monday, with the hosts winning a three-way Twenty20 tournament which also featured Plume School and Essex Fire Brigade.
For the first time, there was a piece of silverware at stake, as life member and former Plume School headteacher Sarah Dignasse donated The Randall Cup.
This is in memory of former player David Randall, who recently lost his brave fight against cancer.
