HEYBRIDGE Swifts have completed the signing of prolific striker Chris Bryan.
The long-serving former Halstead Town man wants to test himself at a higher level and has agreed terms at Scraley Road.
He is unavailable for Saturday’s glamour pre-season friendly against a West Ham XI but should make his first appearance in Tuesday’s match against Chelmsford City.
Swifts boss Wayne Bond told the Standard: “We’re delighted to have signed Chris.
“He’s a proven goal-scorer in the Ridgeons League, having been very successful during his time with Halstead.
“But he wants to test himself at a higher level and we’re delighted to give him that opportunity here.”
Bryan had an injury-plagued season last term but still finished the campaign on a high by scoring in the First Division Knockout Cup final, against FC Clacton.
Ironically, he has previously been linked with a move to Swifts’ neighbours Maldon Town but decided to stay loyal to Halstead.
However, Jody Brown’s recent departure from the managerial hot-seat there may have been part of his thinking in leaving now.
Swifts’ pre-season preparations continued with a 1-0 defeat at Aveley on Saturday.
