THREE red cards marred Heybridge Swifts’ 2-1 defeat at Thamesmead Town.
Fiston Manuella and Danny Barber were sent off for Swifts and were joined by Town’s Rikki Cable in their Ryman League division one north match.
With very few chances in a physical first half, tempers flared after a free-kick was awarded to Heybridge on 28 minutes.
The result of a melee between most players saw Manuella sent off for Swifts.
But from the free-kick the ball found its way over the line thanks to Tom Broadhurst to give Swifts the lead.
Swifts held the advantage going into the second half as the ten men battled hard to keep their lead.
But on 74 minutes, the home side equalised when Andy Constable played the ball to Marcus Perona on the right edge of the Swifts area to drill the ball home low across the box.
Thamesmead took advantage of the extra man and Constable scored the winner on 78 minutes.
But in the third minute of injury-time Barber and Cable clashed and both received their marching orders.
