IT was a proud day for Burnham Hillside Bowls Club's Chelmsford and District Wednesday night B team as they took their place in the final of the Marconi League Cup.
Burnham were playing against RHP's A team across three men's rinks.
It had been a few years since the club had had a team in this final so they were looking to do well, but it was not to be. RHP played very well and despite Burnham B's efforts, they could not take command of the game.
In the end, RHP won on all three rinks and claimed the silverware.
Meanwhile, Burnham played Southminster at home in their annual friendly.
This ended up being across two triples and two fours with four of Burnham's members playing for Southminster that reflected the spirit of the day.
This time it was Burnham who had the upper hand as they won three of the four games so ended up with an overall winning score of 70-63.
