DANNY Buchan had a dismal weekend at the latest British Superbikes meeting at Thruxton.

He was riding the Ducati Panigali for the Lloyds British Moto Rapido Ducati team.

However, the BSB event, held at the team’s local track, did not get off to a good start, with Buchan in unfamiliar territory well down the field in both practice and qualifying sessions.

The Burnham-based rider struggled all weekend with grip issues and although the team tried everything possible they could not overcome the lack of tyre adhesion, which also plagued many other teams and riders.

Try as they might, the tyres would not respond and Buchan was eventually forced to pull out of both Sunday races, to avoid crashing and causing harm to himself and other contestants.

He was only able to complete six laps of race one and 11 of race two.

Clearly very disappointed, Buchan said: "We learn, we regroup and we move forward."
