SIXTEEN teams contested Five Lakes' seniors' Woodrow Cross Pairs Trophy.
This is a better ball stableford competition played on the Lakes course.
The dry, still conditions and fast, true greens gave opportunities for some excellent and consistent scoring.
Although early starters, captain David Barbour and partner Dave Swain set a clubhouse target of 39 points.
However, it was inevitable that this was going to be bettered and so it proved.
The in-form Norman Davies, partnered by stalwart Mick Garwood, returned an unbeatable 41 points to wrest the trophy from the chasing 40-pointers of Ron Colbert and Jon Day and Tony Tyler and Peter Cox.
Main results: Reg Goodchild Trophy: 1st Norman Davies and Mick Garwood 41 points, 2nd Ron Colbert and John Day 40 points on countback, 3rd Tony Tyler and Peter Cox 40 points, 4th John Grant and Ian Brown 39 points on countback, 5th David Barbour and David Swain 39 points.
David Barbour won the nearest the pin competition on the fourth hole and Graham Morris on the 16th hole.
The birdie twos competition was won by Graham Morris and Frank Taylor on the 16th hole and Steve Green on the eighth.
