BURNHAM racer Danny Buchan finished his weekend at Snetterton with a top-ten finish in the British Superbikes Championship.

Riding a Ducati 1199 Panigali R for the Lloyds British, Moto Rapido racing team, Buchan started his time in Norfolk well by setting the second fastest times in both free practice sessions.

On a slightly wet track the following day, he could only manage 20th place in the third practice session, but made it into the third part of qualifying and a sixth-fastest time saw the Burnham man placed on the second row of the grid for race one.

As the lights went out, Buchan got off to a good start, vying for position with the leading pack and by the end of lap one was in fourth place ahead of Tommy Bridewell and chasing Leon Haslam.

He held this place until lap six but at this point, his rear tyre began to degrade.

Buchan managed to hold on until lap seven when a charging Shane Byrne, from the back of the pack, overtook him on his way to finish in a storming third place.

With the rear tyre now threatening to dump him on the asphalt, Buchan gradually slipped down the order, being passed by a number of riders as he finished in a disappointing 12th position.

The second race saw Buchan get another good start from the third row of the grid in ninth spot and he maintained that into the second lap.

He was then demoted to 11th but re gained a place to tenth which he held until lap 12, before re-passing Tommy Bridewell into ninth.

Jenny Tinmouth, the only lady in the field, then had spectacular crash at the fast left-hand Brundle corner as her Honda Fireblade CBR1000RR was thrown into the air before cartwheeling across the track and scattering debris and oil on to the surface.

Tinmouth luckily walked unscathed from the crash but the red flag was shown which brought the proceedings to a premature end and Buchan had to be content with taking the chequered flag in a creditable ninth place.
