HEYBRIDGE Swifts will be hosting a special match to honour six decades of service to the club by Mick Gibson.

Gibson's 60 years of serving on Heybridge's committee was recognised at the recent Ryman Isthmian League annual meeting as he was awarded a lifetime presidency.

It is something that has only been given to 20 people in the 120-year history of the league across the south east of England and Swifts are now paying tribute themselves by holding a testimonial match in Gibson's honour.

The game will take place on Sunday, July 31, at Scraley Road (kick-off 2pm) when two teams for former Swifts legends will be competing against each other

The club are hoping ex-players, Heybridge supporters and local football fans will come to the game.

As well as the match between the Swifts legends, there will also be attractions for children, who will be able to get in for free, while admission will be £8 for adults.
