SEVEN Tiptree Road Runners lined up for the inaugural running of the Burnham-on-Crouch 10K.

The tricky course, which included a long, uneven, off-road section, didn't deter Vicky Knight, who continued her excellent form of late to finish 21st overall in 45 minutes three seconds and third female.

Jim Slater also ran strongly to finish first V70, just outside the club record, in 51m 15s, with Rob Hadgraft recording 54m 40s and Anthony Knight 55m 30s.

Chris King (58m 28s), Sally Wood (1h 5m 29s) and Zoe Jackson (1h 9m 39s) were all running their first 10K of the season.

Six Road Runners flew across the continent to tackle the ING Night races on a humid evening in Luxembourg.

In the marathon, Gary Perryman shook off injury concerns to come home in 4h 9m 26s, with Martin Pratley running 5h 25m 3s.

In the half-marathon, Stacy Hember (2h 57s) and Graeme Moon (2h 58s) crossed the line together, with Zoe Gould not far behind in 2h 11m 45s and John McVelia finishing in 2h 40m 18s.

Closer to home, good conditions for the 146th Maldon Parkrun saw some fast times for the Tiptree contingent.

Mark Shillaker (20m 48s) and Iain Rhodes (22m 12s) both recorded personal bests, with Rhodes also first in the VM 55-59 category.

In a close finish, James Haskey-Jones came home third overall in 19m 1s, only five seconds behind the winner.

Mark Lawes ran 20m 49s, Simon Baker 23m 20s, with Frances Gridley first VW 55-59 in 25m 34s.

Paula Rothero put in a strong showing to record a season's best of 26m, with Anthony and Vicky Knight warming up for their 10K the following day in 26m 45s and 27m 18s respectively.

Kim Broughton ran 27m 35s, Pete Bouldstridge a season's best 29m 11s and Rose Haskey-Jones 32m 25s.

The second race in the Harwich 5K summer series saw windy conditions on the promenade at Harwich.

James Haskey-Jones ran 19m 22s to record the fastest Tiptree time of the evening, with Paul Dellar finishing strongly to record a season's best in 19m 56s.

Matt Davey ran 20m 39s, with Gary Perryman continuing his return from injury to record 21m 1s.

Zoe Gould ran 26m 26s with Roger Duffield finishing in 32m 4s.

After two races, Gould is the best-placed Road Runner in the points tables, lying in 12th place with 366 points.

The Ashdown Forest Challenge, run on a tough, hilly, uneven 1.91 mile figure of eight course in East Sussex, involves covering the greatest possible distance in eight hours.

Malcolm Bailey, describing it as the hardest event he had ever done, completed 14 laps to cover 26.7 miles including over 3,600 feet of total incline.

Lindsay Rolerkite was the club's sole representative in the Hatfield Broad Oak 10K, completing the course in 49m 50s.
