BURNHAM on Crouch Golf Club ladies' county teams had a good week.

The Bronze team played the Warren at home and won 6-1 with wins for Claire Lewis, Jae Bray, Elaine Elphinstone, Jillean Hipsey, Liz Tolhurst and Cally Fearn.

Even the loss was a game that went to the 18th.

The Silver team were at Canons Brook and with wins from Denise Howat, Jean Bailey, Avis Greenway and Sue Frost it was a 4-1 away win.

The men held the 36-hole foursomes with the winners being Dean Bewers and Gordon Howat with 142.

Second went to Roy Cotter and Stuart Steele with 144, while James Marchant and Tony Wilkin were third with 148.

The midweek stableford saw first place go to Barry Pressley with 35 points, Roger Miles took second on countback from Seamus McGee after both had 33 points and Bob Willett was fourth.

The ladies played the Silver Spoon medal with 26 entries.

RESULTS: Silver: 1 Helen Ford 72 nett, 2 Liz Clark 74, 3 Jae Bray 75. Bronze: 1 Eve Corfield 76 nett, 2 Jane Hull 77 (ocb), 3 Shelagh Edwards 77.

There was also a nine-hole competition which was won by Kathy Brown with 16 points.

The Seniors came back from a defeat at home by Three Rivers with a comprehensive 7-1 win against Five Lakes, with Joe Elgie taking nearest the pin honours on the 11th.

The Ladies' Invitation allowed them to invite a man to partner them in a greensomes competition.

With picnics on the course it was a leisurely game with nearest the pin for the ladies on the fifth going to Viv Locke and for the men on the 11th to John Culff.

Liz Tolhurst and Micky Hammond won with 44 points, with Elaine Elphinstone and Dean Bewers taking second on countback from third-placed Cally Fearn and James Marchant.

The cadets played the May Stableford, with first going to Richard Smith with 32 points and second to Rachel Clark with 31.
