BRITISH Superbike rider Danny Buchan suffered disappointment in the latest round at Oulton Park.

He started the weekend in a positive mood, gradually improving in the free practice sessions and ending up with sixth-fastest time ahead of qualifying.

Burnham's Buchan, with the team behind him, were confident he could achieve a front-row start for the race and, as the qualifying session proceeded, he managed to get into fourth position, putting in some fast sector times.

However, on the following lap, he high-sided the MotoRapido Ducati at Knickerbrook.

The crash left him unconscious, dazed and a little bruised, which meant he would not be able to race for the remainder of the meeting.

The circuit medical team attended to him before sending him to Chester Hospital for a CT scan.

He was discharged later that evening with two stitches in his leg and concussion which requires seven days rest.

"It wasn't an ideal weekend,” said Buchan.

“We tried a different tyre for qualifying which did not have the same feel and unfortunately I high-sided at Knickerbrook.

"This put me out of contention for both races and I ended up with a bad concussion, which wasn't good for all involved.

"We're now concentrating on Brands Hatch on May 21."
