THREE young Infinity Tri Club members spent an amazing week touring the English countryside.

And it resulted in two of them qualifying to race at the World Biathle Tour event in Graz, Austria, in June and the European Championships, in Portugal, in July.

First, the group travelled to Lucton, Herefordshire, for the ISA Triathlon Championships.

There were over 340 entrants from across the UK.

This was the first triathlon of the season and the weather was bitterly cold and unforgiving.

All three athletes raced hard, with Esme Springham, 11, who has just entered a new age category, completing a 200 metres swim, a 4km bike and 1.8k run in and amazing 35 minutes, coming 17th out of 65.

This was in the most competitive age group of the day and an amazing result, for the first time in this age category.

Both Dylan Robins, eight, and Matilda Springham, nine, raced in the Tri Star one age group (150m swim, 2km bike and 1.2k run).

They had lots of traffic to deal with on the bike but valiantly fought through to achieve podium positions.

Matilda finished second overall and Dylan third.

Both families then travelled to Street, in Somerset, to compete in the European Biathle qualifiers for the Bank Holiday weekend.

This was new territory for all three competitors.

However, they all came out strong and recorded great times, with Matilda coming fourth in her age group and Dylan gaining fifth place, meaning they have both now qualified to race for the GB Biathle team at the World Biathle Tour event in Graz, Austria, in June, and the European Championships, in Portugal, in July.
