BURNHAM Ramblers boss Keith Wilson was left frustrated after a late call-off.

The Leslie Field side were scheduled to be away at Southend Manor in the Essex Senior League on Saturday but the game was postponed at the last-minute.

This comes hot-on-the-heels of last Wednesday night’s cancelled fixture at Greenhouse Sports which also fell foul of the weather.

Wilson said: “It was very frustrating and depressing on Saturday.

“We were there, we were out on the pitch warming up and the referee called off the game.

“I think 98 per cent of the pitch was playable.

“There was one patch in the goalmouth that wasn’t.

“I understand why the ref did it, the safety of the players is paramount.

“There was a dip in the goalmouth, quite a big one, so I can understand it.

“Maybe if it had been another part of the pitch we could have got the game on.

“It was still frustrating, however.”

Burnham Ramblers now meet Basildon United at Leslie Field on Saturday.

Wilson said: “Basildon United are one of the top teams in the division so it should be a good test for us.

“Anyone can beat anyone in this league and we are going to give a good account of ourselves on Saturday.

“We want to get back to playing, we were on a decent run of form and with these breaks it is difficult to keep that going.”
