BURNHAM Ramblers boss Keith Wilson was happy to return to winning ways.

Ramblers secured a 3-0 Essex Senior League victory at Newham on Wednesday night in a match Wilson had targeted for three points.

Two goals from Joel Barnett and a strike from Charlie Kirby secured the win.

The Ramblers fell to a 3-1 defeat at Leslie Field on Saturday before starting a string of fixtures against treams around them in the division.

The first of those games was the win against Newham, who now sit eight places below Ramblers in the table.

Burnham travel to Stansted, who they leapfrogged in the table following Wednesday’s result and have a new manager in the shape of Mark Ashford, on Saturday before they go to 16th placed Greenhouse the following weekend.

Looking back on the Newham win, Wilson said: “It was a good win in difficult conditions.

“We took our chances well and it was good to keep a clean sheet.”

Looking ahead to the next game, Wilson added: “Hopefully we can do well on Saturday, weather permitting.

“It will be their first game under a new manager so they will be up for it.

“We will probably be facing a side made up of different players then we would have done a few weeks ago.”
