DANNY Buchan took three wins, a new absolute track record of 99.438mph and retained the coveted Sunflower Motorcycle Races Trophy, held at the Bishopscourt Race Circuit, in Northern Ireland.

The 22-year old Burnham rider, on a MSS prepared Kawasaki ZX-10R, had no equals in the Superbike class, winning race one on a damp track by over two seconds from Keith Farmer.

Farmer, who had charged through from fifth at the end of lap one, passed Tyco BMW rider Alastair Seeley to take second place, setting the fastest lap of the race on the seventh and last laps.

The second Superbike race held on a dry track saw Buchan again in a class of his own.

On the third lap he shaved a quarter of a second off the old record set in 2010 by Ian Lowry to win the race by 4.8 seconds from Ben Wilson with Farmer third.

The ten-lap feature Sunflower Trophy Race saw Buchan lead from the off.

Seeley then led briefly after a slight mistake by Buchan, who regained the lead before the end of lap one and steadily increased his advantage over the following pack.

The result was never in doubt and he took the chequered flag almost three seconds ahead of his nearest rival Seeley with Farmer a further ten seconds in arrears.

Buchan said: “It was an awesome day.

“To win the Sunflower Trophy for the second year in a row and take three wins plus a new outright lap record is a fantastic way to end my season and to do it in front of such an enthusiastic crowd is a bonus.

“The record was what I was aiming for this weekend and I got it in my last race, so I’m happy with that. Thanks for all the support in 2015; it’s been amazing. I am looking forward to 2016.”

Buchan, who at this moment in time has not secured a team place in the BSB paddock, added: “I will be on the BSB grid on a competitive bike in 2016. I'll leave you all to the intrigue and rumour.

“You'll all know soon as pen touches paper.”
