THE Burnham on Crouch ladies’ section held the Lady McAdden breast cancer competition.

Throughout the week a raffle was held, the players dressed in pink and ran a bring and buy stall and made donations to raise just over £800.

The winner of the competition was Denise Howat with 37 points, with Helen Ford second on 36.

The winner of the raffle was Steve Faulkner, with Kath Brown picking up the second prize and Gina Horlick the third. The ladies played a nine-hole competition, alongside the medal, and the winner was Joyce Leech with 17 points.

On Saturday 33 men played their October Tankard.

Results: Division one: 1 Dominic Adams 69 nett, 2 Dennis Farrow 72, 3 Eric Derham.

Division two: 1 Martin Johnson 70 nett, 2 Eugene Quinlan nett 73.

On Monday it was the turn of the veterans to challenge and host the ladies.

Better ball prizes were awarded to the best lady pair Linda Stevens and Chrissie West-Webbe, with 43 points, and the best veterans, Stephen Hull and Tom Harrison, with 40 on countback.

The nearest the pin lady was Jean Bailey and nearest pin for the veterans was Keith Lewis.

The team trophy for the total points from all eight pairs went to the veterans with 297, with the ladies 14 adrift.
