BURNHAM Ramblers boss Keith Wilson wants his side to build on their win against Takeley.

The Ramblers secured a 2-1 Essex Senior League victory at Leslie Field last Saturday.

Goals from Bradley Nobbs and Ash Hawkins secured the three points and Wilson is hoping this is the boost his side needs.

He said: “It was a good win and hopefully we can kick on from here.

“We started the game well but were fortunate to go into the break with a 1-0 lead.

“Takeley did have a number of chances.

“But we took the lead with a good goal from Brad Nobbs.

“The ball was crossed in and Nobbs was able to put the ball in the back of the net from six yards unopposed.

“But we gifted them a goal again after the break.

“Keeper Louis Goodwin-Green went up for the ball, missed it, and they scored.

“There was bit of luck involved in our second.

“The ball was played into their area, it ricocheted around and fell to Ash Hawkins who side-footed in the winner in the last ten minutes.

“But, you know, I think we have been owed a bit of luck over the last few games.

“However, we have to push on from here and hopefully we will.

“It was a much better allround performance from the boys.

“We finished strongly and that bodes well for our fitness.”

But Wilson knows that it is still no easy matter to climb the table.

He added: “We have a tough run of games coming and anyone can beat anyone in this league.

“Anyone can take points off anyone, so if you can win five or six on the bounce then it is going to catapult you up the league.”

And the Ramblers boss is looking forward to the challenge, starting this weekend with the trip to Clapton.

Wilson said: “I am looking forward to the game at Clapton.

“They have good vocal support and it should be a good atmosphere.

“The lads are used to play before 40 to 50 and they tend to have a couple of hundred.

“But we can’t let that get the better of us.

“It will be good for the lads to play in that kind of atmosphere.

“If we do a professional job and match their work rate then our quality should shine through and there is no reason why we can’t come away with a win.”

Ramblers secured another boost on Wednesday night as they made progress in the Essex Snior cup with a 2-0 win at Waltham Forest.
