CONSISTENCY is the key for Maldon and Tiptree boss David Wright.

The Jammers have secured two excellent Ryman division north wins on the road that sees them three points off the play-off positions in eighth place.

They toppled AFC Sudbury off the top spot on Saturday with a 2-0 victory thanks to goals from Darren McQueen and Femi Akinwande.

Maldon followed that up with a 3-1 win at AFC Hornchurch on Tuesday night, with goals from Akinwande, Darren Mills and David Segura.

Maldon return to Park Drive on Saturday and Wright knows that it is going to be a tough game against fourth-placed Thurrock.

But he also knows that his side is more than capable of getting a result.

Wright said: “We’ve done really well on the road and it will be nice to have a home game.

“We know it will be a tough game.

“But we have to perform as we have.

“It’s all about consistency now.”

Looking back on his side’s previous two performances the Jammers boss was delighted with the way his players went about their business.

Wright said: “I am really pleased with the performance in both games.

“They were two really difficult games and the boys have done really well.

“All the boys have been excellent including our recent additions.

“We do a lot of work on the history of the players we bring in.

“We have a great bunch of lads here and anyone who comes in has to fit in and hit the ground running.

“Darren Mills has had a really good start in his first two games.”

Wright also had praise for goal-scorer Akinwande, adding: “Femi is doing really well.

“He was outstanding on Saturday and was a great again on Tuesday night.

“He is a pleasure to coach. He always has a smile on his face and is desperate to be a footballer.

“No-one is going to give it to him and all the boys are working really hard to show that they want it.”
