BURNHAM Ramblers boss Keith Wilson is planning for next season and is pleased to be back in the Leslie Field hot-seat.

Wilson took over from former manager Bertie Brayley after he resigned just before the Easter weekend.

Wilson had left Ramblers at the start of the current season to take over the helm at Heybridge Swifts.

However, Wilson parted company with the Scraley Road club back in December after a string of bad results.

Ramblers lost 3-0 against visiting leaders Needham Market on Saturday, following a 4-0 defeat against Aveley and a 1-0 win at Great Wakering Rovers on Easter Monday under Wilson’s control.

And now Wilson is getting ready to prepare his relegated side for next season in the Essex Senior League.

The Burnham manager said: “It’s all about building for next season now.

“That’s why I came back for the final five games.

“There are a lot of players here I don’t know.

“It’s my opportunity to get to see them up close, not just during matches, but at training and in the changing room.

“And I am pleased to say that everyone is playing their part.

“I am going to work really hard in the summer to get the right team together.

“A lot of players have rung me about playing.

“But it is about getting the right players for the club.

“I have also got my eye on a few targets that I would like to bring to the club.

“There is a bit of uncertainty at the moment but I am sure that will all be cleared up soon and we can move on.”

But first he has to prepare his side for the trip to the team one place above them in the table, Barkingside, who won 3-1 at Brentwood Town on Tuesday night.

Wilson said: “Barkingside are fighting for their lives in the division. At the end of the day third from bottom may not go down at the end of the season.

“I know their manager very well and I have always had the sign over him. We have always had good games but I don’t think he has ever beaten me. Hopefully that can continue on Saturday”

But Wilson is glad to back in charge at Burnham: “It’s good to be back, it’s like riding a bike. I am pleased with the way things have gone since I’ve come back.

“The results haven’t been the best but I think you can see an improvement in our performances.”
