Veras Academy Karate Association came out on top in Hamburg.

The Association, with clubs in London and Maldon, achieved the best results and most medals to top the list of competing clubs.

Out of 53 associations from Germany, England, Holland, Demark and Norway competing at the Elbe Cup 2015, they reached this position with just 11 competitors.

Sensei Raphael said: “Although it was a long day, it was very rewarding to see the association reaching the top and have other instructors from other countries recognising all the hard work that is required to prepare for competitions through the outstanding performances of the students.”

Out of 11 competitors, nine secured eight gold, four silver and three bronze trophies.

Results: Competitor of the day: Liam Veras (9), four golds.

Gold: Team Kumite U10 - Luca Veras, Liam Veras and Ismail Cinar; Team kata 10-13 years - (Liam, Luan and Seyhan); Team Kumite 10-13 years - Luan Veras, Luke Kavanagh and Seyhan Cinar; Individual Kumite under eight years - Luca Veras; Individual kata and Kumite under 10 years - Liam Veras; Individual Kata 6-4kyu 10-13 years - Luan Veras, Individual kata up to 7th kyu 10-13 years - Seyhan Cinar.

Silver: Individual kata Under 8 above 7th kyu - Luca Veras; Individual kata Under 8 up to 8 kyu - Ismail Cinar; Individual kata 14-15 years - Ben Pomeroy; Veras Veterans Kumite - Patricia Perote.

Bronze: Individual Kumite 10-13 years -52KG - Luan Veras; 14-15years individual Kumite - Ben Pomeroy; 18 years and above individual kata - Jasmine Pomeroy.
