ALAN Kimble wants a ‘massive reaction’ from his Maldon and Tiptree side after their defeat at Chatham Town.

The Jammers fell to a 1-0 defeat in their Ryman League division one north encounter on Saturday to a team five places below them.

This weekend Maldon entertain high-flying Thurrock, who sit sixth in the table and are battling for a play-off spot.

Kimble was left disappointed by his side’s performance last Saturday and wants a better display this weekend.

Kimble said: “I want a massive reaction from the boys against Thurrock.

“They are still in the mix for the play-offs and they won 2-0 at Barkingside on Monday night.

“We had been doing so well with our home form but we have lost the last two league games at Park Drive.

“Those performances weren’t acceptable.

“Myself and the coaching staff are on a bit of a learning curve.

“You have to have eyes in the back of your head as some players have taken their foot off the gas.

“Considering how well our form had been this is unacceptable.

“We still have a bit of work to do not to get dragged back into the relegation fight.

“I want to see desire from the players.

“I haven’t come to the club to stand still.

“I want to build a team that is challenging for the play-offs next season.

“I want to see that from the players on Saturday.”

And Kimble has reiterated his warning to players that their futures at Park Drive hang in the balance.

He added: “There are seven games to go for them to prove to me they want to be at this club next season.”
