MALDON and Tiptree’s players have their futures in their own hands.

Jammers boss Alan Kimble is adamant that his team are now playing for their futures at the club.

Maldon and Tiptree lost out 2-1 to visiting Brentwood Town at Park Drive on Saturday.

The result means that Kimble’s side have lost their last two Ryman League divisor one north games at home, the other being a 2-1 reverse against Tilbury.

And that fact hasn’t pleased the Jammers boss.

Kimble said: “The players are now playing for their futures.

“There are eight games left for us to play and they have to prove that they want to be at the club. There are a number of them who have still got question marks over them.

“That’s two games we have lost at home recently, which is disappointing because we wanted to make our home a fortress.

“We have three home league games left and I want us to win all those.”

This weekend Maldon travel to Chatham Town, who sit in 20th place in the table, five below the Jammers.

But Kimble knows this will be a tough prospect for his side, who haven’t dealt confidently with sides below them in the table.

He is also aware that they need to get back to winning ways or they could be dragged back down into a relegation battle once again.

Kimble said: “We have eight games left and we could get pulled into it.

“Chatham on Saturday will be a difficult game for us. We had not being doing well against sides that where below us in the league. But I think that has changed recently if you look at the Romford match (2-0 win) for example.”
