BURNHAM Ramblers boss Bertie Brayley views Heybridge Swifts as just another obstacle in their path to avoid relegation.

The Burnham manager is preparing his side for a derby trip to Scraley Road on Saturday in Ryman League division one north.

The match comes hot on the heels of a battling 3-2 defeat against Brightlingsea Regent last weekend and a 0-0 encounter with Ware on Tuesday night.

Against Regent, Burnham battled back from being 2-0 down to make it all square but were undone when the visitors’ Phil Kelly completed his hat-trick in the second half.

And Brayley is relishing the prospect of the derby match with Swifts in their quest to avoid relegation.

Brayley said: “I am looking forward to the Swifts game.

“I’ve been on loan there a couple of times early in my career and it’s a good club and they always give me a good reception.

“It’s a derby and it’s going to be a tense game.

“We are fighting for our lives in the division and everyone is going to have to put their bodies on the line.

“But it will be like all our games at the moment.

“We have to beat all the other teams as well, we have to focus on all of them.

“Swifts are just another obstacle for us to go and try and get three points from.

“Cliff (Akurang) has turned them around and pulled them away from the relegation zone and you have to take your hat off to him.”

Bur despite that optimism Brayley is still beset with problems that have dogged his selection process throughout the season.

He added: “I don’t know what squad I will have week in week out. If I have a full and fit squad to choose from then great, if not then we will continue how we have done all season.

“I am looking forward to the game and we have to keep the pressure on Cray Wanderers who are five points above us.”
