BURNHAM Ramblers player-manager Bertie Brayley has warned his players that no-one’s place is safe ahead of their vital clash with Chatham Town.

Ramblers were on the wrong end of a 6-1 home thrashing at the hands of Essex neighbours Great Wakering Rovers, on Tuesday night.

Bradley Nobbs bagged Burnham’s consolation goal at Leslie Field but they remain rooted to the bottom of Ryman League division one north.

And ahead of their trip to play fourth-bottom Chatham this Saturday, player-boss Brayley says he is pondering changes to his starting line-up.

He said: “No-one’s place is safe – when you lose heavily like that, you can’t expect anything else.

“It all depends on how the players respond and whether or not they show heart and dignity in their performance.

“We haven’t lost by such a heavy scoreline for some time and to come crashing down like that has left me flat.

“It’s all about how the boys react now because you can’t just go through the motions.

“The attitude in training tonight will be important and I’ll be watching them closely.

“But I’m sure that the group of lads I have can bounce back.”

Brayley had been hoping that Burnham could build on their encouraging 3-3 draw against Cheshunt, last weekend.

But the strugglers were unable to replicate the workmanlike display they had produced against the Ambers.
