BURNHAM Ramblers boss Bertie Brayley has suffered a blow with the departure of his first team captain.

Defender Marc Gorbell has left the club to join Ryman League division one north rivals Harlow Town.

Brayley appointed Gorbell as skipper at the start of the season and the central defender had made 27 appearances for the Leslie Field side so far this term.

Harlow came in for Gorbell after Saturday’s 2-0 defeat to Dereham Town and Brayley admitted to be disappointed that Gorbell accepted the offer.

Brayley said: “I have lost my captain Marc to Harlow Town.

“They put in a seven-day approach straight after the Dereham match.

“It’s disappointing.

“We started the season together and I had a chat with him saying it was going to be a hard season and he was with me.

“But a bigger club has come in for him and he took the decision to leave.

“I feel disappointed but I have been a player and now I am on the other side as a manager.

“I have been doing a lot of putting myself in his shoes over the last couple of days."
