A spirited fight from Burnham Ramblers wasn’t enough to gain a point in a seven-goal thriller at Leslie Field.

The home side lost out 4-3 in their Ryman division one north match on Tuesday night against visiting Waltham Abbey after being 3-0 down by 71 minutes.

The visitors took the lead on 34 minutes when a good passing move saw the ball slipped through to Jason Hallet on the left side of the box and he fired home past keeper James Pellin.

Abbey doubled their lead in the second half from the penalty spot following a trip in the box.

Tom Bruno made no mistake with his spot kick to make it 2-0 on 51 minutes.

Substitute Kye Jude then attempted to pull something back for Ramblers but his lob of keeper Jayden Purdue failed to come off.

Bruno grabbed his second of the night on 71 minutes to make it 3-0.

But three minutes later Thomas Anderson pulled a goal back for Burnham with a shot from the edge of the box.

And Ramblers made it 3-2 when Isaac Aubynn scored on 90 minutes.

But another penalty for Abbey saw a hat-trick for Bruno.

However, Ramblers fought back again and Anderson hit his second to make it 4-3.

Ramblers though ran out of time to take something out of the game as Abbey saw the match out for the win.
