MALDON and Tiptree manager Alan Kimble was very disappointed in his side’s performance in the derby match against Burnham Ramblers.

The sides fought out a 1-1 draw in their Ryman League division one north encounter at Park Drive.

Ramblers boss Bertie Brayley, whose side sit aat the bottom of the division, was also disappointed with his side’s performance in the first half but happy with the point gained.

A Lee Pleasance own goal in the first two minutes gave Maldon the lead but Burnham equalised through Andrea Mantovani on 71 minutes.

Maldon boss Kimble said: “We were poor.

“We didn’t turn up. They thought we could just turn up and get a result.

“We took the lead after two minutes through an own goal, we didn’t really create anything.

“Fair credit to Burnham they put themselves in the shop window.

“But I think that was our worst performance I have seen at the football club.

“I was very disappointed and I let the players know it.

“Also I have lost defender Gavin Greenfield for two to three weeks through injury.

“But at the end of the day it is another point and it moves us further away from the bottom three and up to 17th.”

Burnham boss Brayley was pleased by his side’s second half performance and the point they gained in the derby match.

Brayley said: “It was a massive point for us and the club.

“But I have to say we were poor in the first half. We couldn’t string two passes together.

“And we scored an own goal through Lee when he was defending in the wrong area and headed in.

“I had a chat with the players at half-time and we came out like a different side in the second half.

“We played really well together. In the first half it looked like we were a team of strangers.

“We played well, got our goal and could have got a winner.

“To be fair if you spin it around then Maldon had a couple of chances where they could have won it as well.

“But I can take a lot of positives out of the second half - the first half I would like to forget.

“I also had Ricky Evans and Marc Gorbell out so we knew it was going to be a difficult day.

“But I have some suspensions coming back so we now should be stronger.”
